I recently read an article about the lost knowledge. About knowledge, which is not written anywhere, because “everybody knows that”.
As an example, Ta netjer (The Land of the Gods), Punt. Historians have no doubt that Punt existed, led animated trade and cooperation with Egypt, as private letters and commercial documents were preserved. The problem is that we have no idea where Punt was located.
Because after all… everybody knew that. So why write down the obvious things.
Some time ago there was aa argument between the Polonists about the meaning of the word “samotrzeć”(I really have no idea what English word can be used). Does it mean “he and three companions” or rather “he and two companions, as three of them”? I do not remember how, and if, the dispute was resolved, but it basically all goes to the “Why write it down, after all, everybody knows that?”
Less than a month ago I learned that it is a common practice to add wheat flour to potato cakes. Although originally there is no flour is added at all, only potatoes. I was absolutely convinced that “everybody knows that”.
Can you see the pattern?
I shared these thoughts with the Almighty. He agreed with me a little, argued a little more, and then, chopping on carrot salad, he asked if I would put this recipe on the blog. I said no, because it’s so banal that… oh…
No, I’m not going to tell you that carrot raw salad has the same meaning for humanity as the location of the Land of the Gods, but why not try to save even a little things like that. If you want, share with me your examples of things that “everybody knows”
As the salad is really the easiest thing on the Earth, I add beetroot and edamame salad. I noticed that somehow there is no tahini sauce for beet salad on the pictures… I forgot, but believe me, there was a tahini sauce there, because it is an integral part of this salad.
Many people claim that tahini sauces have a bitter aftertaste. If you are in this group, replace tahini with peanut butter or give half amount of butter and other half tahini.
Edamame can be replaced with green peas or sweet peas.
Ingredients:
Carrot salad:
3 carrots
1 orange

1 teaspoon lime juice (lemon)
1 tsp pine syrup (maple or honey)
Tahini sauce:

1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)
0.5 tablespoons olive oil
2 garlic cloves

black pepper
2 -3 tablespoons of water

Beet Salad:
- Beets peel and make spaghetti with a spiralizer. Or ribbons. Or grate.
