But the problem arises when you return, when fatigue pulls out of hunger. I know that I need something to eat, a late lunch or early dinner, but tired muscles refuse to cooperate. And then to the rescue comes “yesterday’s soup.”
This specialized dish is known to every lady of the house. Takes many forms and appears in infinite varieties of taste, but it is always a “yesterday’s soup.” And after eating a plate or two, you can safely proceed to do (as says Almighty Admin) a “proper dinner”.
Can you remember the craze for diet cabbage?
It was extremely effective, extremely cheap, allowed for dropping unwanted pounds in a mere few days, and then… the inevitable yo-yo effect, when on the horizon appeared anything that was not cooked cabbage.
However, the diet had its great moments some time ago and stairways, courtyards, and often entire neighborhoods were dominated by dubious aroma of cooked cabbage. Cabbage soup. Culinary horror..
However, regardless of diet, cabbage soup has its own charm. Fresh cabbage effectively fills the stomach, warms and, accordingly seasoned, it tastes pretty good.
I present you my yesterday soup.
Fresh cabbage – 1 head
30 oz mushrooms
30 oz of colorful peppers
0.5 kg of tomatoes
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
juice and grated zest of a lemon
750 ml vegetable broth
spoon the mixture panch phoron
1 teaspoon of fenugreek
1 teaspoon nigella seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
Serve with the rest of the green onions. With boiled potatoes and broad beans with bread.
