Fava chops? Fava cutlets? Fava polenta? All these names sound silly and, somehow, I am sure that also they’re wrong. So I decided on fava falafels.
I know that this recipe is not even close to falafels, but my vocabulary is too small for todays post. 🙂 I am sorry. And if you know how to rename this “falafels” of mine – please do tell me.
Anyway, this kind of meal was very popular in my home in autumn and winter. Made of potatoes with golden onion and served with sauces – wild mushrooms mostly.
But summer potatoes are new and not good for it. So I took fava beans and it was very good idea.
I served my fava falafels with yoghurt and peppers, but I know for sure that with hot chilli sauce they are great also. You can try all sauces you want – tomatoes, creamy mushroom or wine jus.
But, promise me, that you will at least try! 🙂
0.5 kg fava beans
15 ounces of hard cheese goat
2 tablespoons chopped green onions
1 large egg
2 cloves of garlic
garlic oil for frying
- Rinse fava beans in cold water, then boil in salted water for 20 – 30 minutes. When cooked – peel.
- Grate cheese.
- Fava beans, onions, cheese and garlic, mix in a blender. You can also grind fava beans and then add the remaining ingredients.
- Season with salt and pepper, then add the egg. Mix to get a slightly sticky mass (if necessary, add a little water).
- Fry the falafels in the pan.
Serve with any sauce. They are delicious, easy and great both hot and cold.
